With the rapid development of cloud computing, virtual machine technology is gettingwidely used. The virtual machine technology can optimize the allocation and usage ofcomputer resources, by shielding the deferences between physical computer devices. For thischaracter, virtual machine has become an important basic technology in cloud computing.KVM is one of the mature virtual machine technology, which has been widely used invirtualization technology of cloud computing.In cloud computing, the research on KVM live migration over different networksegments is very hot. By the live migration technology, we can move a running KVM instancefrom one PC to another seamlessly. This has great significance to solve problems in cloudcomputing, such as the load balance, backup storage, hot spots elimination, and so on.Because of closed structure and complexity, the traditional network has naturaldisadvantages in dealing with network topology changes, network devices deployment, andnodes control. So a new web model, SDN was presented. Based on the OpenFlow protocol,SDN separates the network into forwarding layers and control layers, using open sourcecontrollers to realize network centralized control. The network devices only focus on dataforwarding. This makes SDN flexible and controllable, and provides a perfect solution toresolve the problems of traditional network. Therefore, the KVM live migration technologybased on SDN has greate significance to computer science.This paper is based on the National Science and Technology Support Plan project"Application Design on Distributed Deployment of Cloud Multimedia Information Storage".Refering to the SDN based on OpenFlow protocol, the author constructs a cloud computingservice system, and realizes KVM live migration between different network segments in thesystem.In this system, the author designs four layers, which are control layer, forwarding layer,host layer, and tenant layer. The control layer is the critical part, which controls wholenetwork of the system. The forwarding layer realizes data forwarding. The host layer runsmany PCs, which can locate in different network segments, used as the hosts of KVM virtualmachine. The tenant layer runs KVM virtual machines. These virtual machines are the entitiesto serve for outside users, and also the migration objects in the research.The author realizes the system by layers. The control layer adopts POX controller to implement link find, topology management, distributed routing formulation, and flow chart.The forward layer runs Open vSwitch switches, to realize data forwarding. The host layerdeploys hosts in different network segments, and realizes VXLAN tunnel, NFS shared storagepool, KVM virtual machine environments, virt-manager management tools. Tenant layerrealizes the KVM virtual machine communication and live migration. Thus, the authorrealizes KVM live migration over different network segments based on the technology ofSDN.
