In this burgeoning era of information, the volume of information grows rapidly therefore amount and categories of information stored in libraries increase continuously. The boom of digital libraries allows assorted information to be provided to end users via network and brings end users better service. However, digital libraries are facing crisis of losing users, which results from great cost for users to access isolated data in each digital library. Meanwhile, isolated data storage also leads to data repetition and potential secure hazards. Consequently, how to integrate each data storage at low cost and excavate valuable knowledge for thorough, effective, fast and customized service for user becomes an important issue for library’s further development.This article presents a design for building library data service center based on cloud computation technologies. According to basic functions of library, providing data storage and access, the design applies ideas of cloud computation and related technologies to set up the architecture of library data service center by principles of diversity, transparency, customization, timeliness and autonomy. In details, the design consists of three components for the service center: data integration, providing information service and information push. To tackle the diversity of distributed data in library, the data integration component applies the meta-data management to transform meta-data by XML; assembles the meta-data of diverse data into “partial mode” as base data source in a form of middle-ware. Based on this, it builds a virtual database named “global mode”as middle layer. Above this, the “user mode”is built as top layer to meet users’ requirement. In addition, the mapping-rules between “partial mode”, “global mode” and “user mode” are defined separately. The distributed diverse data of libraries are integrated by this structure, thus it maximizes the integration of information resource in libraries. The design also uses Web Service technology to define service and invocation of the library data service center, so that a convenient and single entrance is provided for end users to access the service via WEB without discrepancy of different operating system or development platform. Based on effective integration of information resource in libraries, the information push component applies Map-Reduce(distributed cloud computation technology) with Apriori algorithm to do data drilling on integrated data. So when users log in the system, query and browse data, the system can recommend relevant data to user to help them find out more valuable resource, and provide customized service.The library cloud-based service center tackles the diversity of different databases, and provide end users abundant data and software resource with integration of data and service. It eventually implements resource integration and knowledge drilling for convenient, single-entrance access platform. This article would be promotive to utilization of library resource, development of library services and strategically important for improvement on library service.
