Study On The Taiwanese Audience’s Psychology From Taiwanese Idol Dramas

Taiwan is known as an area with advanced entertainment culture of Chinese regions. For its earlier development, there are many kinds of entertainment cultures, such as music, movie, drama and so on. In addition, the government also attaches much importance to the development of entertainment culture, especially like setting up a central unit to rule over all the entertainment activities. While among all the entertainment activities, TV drama is one of the strengths. Due to the improvement of economic level, all families have a TV set. So through the spreading of TV media, drama stories always draw a lot of attention.For all dramas, the idol style is the easiest one to be accepted and drawn most attention. Through young or popular stars, who present fantasy love story on the small screen, common people can enjoy the virtual story which is different from daily life, making people release pressure in boring work life.This study is mainly to know Taiwanese idol drama fans’ acceptance of the experience and content of idol drama according to the discussion on literature documents and part of people’s opinion. Additionally, through the interaction between fans and texts, it tries to analyze and understand the connotation of fans’ viewing behavior and to know the reason for Taiwanese idol drama fans’ formation.The study finds that Taiwanese idol drama fans produce identity to text, which combines audiences’ own real social life experience. While Taiwanese idol drama’s features of “short episodes and delicate content”, “distinctive leading role”, “combination of local currents affairs”, and “creation by local team” shorten fans’ psychological distance, and they get considerable psychological comfort and identity from the viewing process.
