The traditional Access Control System (ACS) engages wired communication technology, and the deployment of such system is significantly restricted by environment. Its functionality is limited to the recognition of the identity of visitors, unable to provide convenient integration services in scenario of outdoors, such as bi-direction data collection, automatically information pushing to mobile devices, which is popular in modern mobile internet applications.Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a contactless automatic identification technology widely used in many fields. In recent years, Near Field Communication (NFC) technology which is one of the advanced solution of mobile RFID application, became rapidly equipped function of many mobile terminal devices, such as mobile phones, X-pad, personal digital assistants, etc., with which to provide identification, electronic payment, information sharing and other mobile applications.A novel ACS system is designed and implemented in this paper, which provides function as fast wireless deployments for identity recognition, wireless data transmission function than traditional access control system, the integration of NFC communication to exchange information with mobile devices, etc. This system can be widely used in outdoor locations and other data push scenario.Main works of this paper are introduced as follows:1. The study of conventional access control system, technical characteristics and development roadmap was introduced in detail. By comparing several common short-range communication technology, the Zigbee wireless sensor networks technology was chosen to solve the wireless connectivity demand for departure parts of the access control system. Then key research topics on the possibility of implementation of NFC communication with ACS, data format and other details was given in detail.2. The System-level design and implementation of this ACS was introduced in detail, including system requirement analysis, detailed design for hardware, development of Zigbee protocol stack, NFC communications middleware, peripheral controllers, embedded software design and implementation, host management software design and implementation. All works were implemented with the guidance of project management technique for software engineering.Based on module and system level test, debug and evaluation, the access control system designed achieves the desired requirements well, and it can provides the advantage of flexibility, rapid deployment, and an effective solution for mobile data push services.
