With the development of science and technology, military technology is being improved gradually. In the tactical data link system, the information safety and data effective transmission has been one of the most important military technology. In order to realize the secure and effective transmission of tactical data link in the quality-random channel, the key is to realize the stealth of RF signal in the communication countermeasure. So, how to design military data link and make RF signal stealth has become a research hotspot. As the representative of military data link system, JTIDS data link system from America has high security, ability of anti-jamming, low interception probability and other characteristics.According to the JTIDS data link system, In the tactical application of RF stealth, in order to stealth the RF signal of tactical data link and keep data transmission reliably and effectively, several techniques are used including efficient coding technology, modulation technology, spread spectrum technology, frequency hopping technology, antenna technology and so on. Based on above background, the paper focuses on the research of tactical data link physical layer algorithm—channel coding algorithm, and has put forward a simulation model of waveform stealth communication system. On the basis of detailed analysis of how channel coding influences on the communication’s performance and stealth performance, RS code, Turbo code, and RS-Turbo code are typically studied. The main work and achievements of this paper are as follows.At first, a detailed description of the research status and development trend of channel coding technology at present, analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of different channel coding schemes, focuses on the design of RS codes and convolutional code using channel coding in the US active data link communications system.At second, this paper focuses on the architecture of waveform stealth communication system and technical parameters of each module, lists the parameters of waveform stealth system communication performance and stealth performance and derives theoretical formulas, then analyzes the sensitive factors of channel coding affect system performance.At third, this paper detailed introduces the theoretical basis of RS codes, Turbo codes and RS-Turbo codes, compares three patterns of performance, lists three designs of code in the waveform stealth system.At last, it builds the entire simulation system in the Matlab R2013a environment and completes the simulation research, obtain the simulation results under the different scenarios of bit error rate and probability of intercept. The simulation results show that the communication performance and stealth performance of Turbo codes is better than that of RS codes and RS-Turbo codes in the system design and the specific algorithm.
