WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access), an ITU ( International Telecommunication Union) standard, which evoluted from Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), is considered as direct extension of IMT-2000 from the official view point. Comparing with current available technology on the market, it can provide the high speed data rate for mobile and portable wireless devices, which is wireless commnunication standard boasting with its high-ranking maturity in the third-generation mobile communications industry chain and its high demand of web user. In application of wideband spread spectrum technology, all users may share the same uplink and downlink spectrum.Useful signal energy of each user shall be assigned to the whole spectrum, and this kind of useful signal to other users becomes an interference. Power Control is an indispensable and important instrument to control the interference between users, to improve the utilization rate of power, so as to improve the user capacity of the whole system and call quality, with an aim to effectively utilize wireless resources.With the explosive growth of smart phone, mobile Internet applications has shown its polularity.Wireless loaded networks gradually evolved from light loaded to the overload network most of the time.Under current situation, WCDMA is main carrier for wireless data transmission. Therefore, it is of great significance to figure out how to enhance the capacity of WCDMA system, improve the reliability of WCDMA.With the hope that the study of Power Control may play a bigger role.This paper studies on a much better Power Control technology with WCDMA system as to provide higher quality wireless data loaded network. This paper focuses on related Power Control technologies with WCDMA, including uplink power control, downlink power control, open loop power control, closed loop power control and other crucial technologies, principle, for those operators, equipment manufacturers and engineers who are interested in learning power control theory under WCDMA system, as to facilitate them for a comprehensive,fast learning reference, servicing for wireless communications. In addition, this paper, studies the challenges which explosive growth of smart phone posed to wireless load, analyses the behavior of smart phone applications, which may effect the traditional power control algorithm and puts forward some improved methods. Simulation and actual environmental verification have been made. Validation showed that network congestion caused by the smart phone to a certain degree can be eased.
