WCDMA is one of the most competitive CDMA systems in the Third Generation Mobile Communication System. When a mobile is in low speed, it will be in deep fading for a long time. At the same time, in CDMA system all users share the same bandwidth, so they will interfere with each other. They, including path losses etc, result in low system capacity. Power control is an effective way to solve this problem.In the first part of this thesis, we provide a full view of power control and give some basic principles. We especially analyze the stability of closed loop power control. In the second part, the simulation model of closed -loop power control in WCDMA downlink is introduced. Then, we discuss the factors pertinent to power control. Finally, simulation results are given. We also take the implementation into account. In the third part, we provide simulation results of outer loop power control and the adjustment loop in outer loop power control is under consideration. In the last part of the thesis, the physical layers of WCDMA uplink and the process of multiplexing are introduced .We successfully implemented WCDMA UE transmission module in FPGA platform.
