The Research Of The History And The Development Of "Xinhua Style"

"Xinhua style", formed in the time of liberation war in China, is a news’ report model with high efficiency of transmission, also recognized as a model with long history and great influence in China. Until now, as an important model in news reporting and propaganda of CPC, "Xinhua style" is still a very important part in the system of Communist party newspapers. Meanwhile, the changes of "Xinhua style" in each stage reflect the changes of CPC’s ideas on propaganda and the features of news writing.Firstly, based on news’ texts, this paper investigates the diachronic development of "Xinhua style". This paper selects a series of news’ anthologies of the Xinhua News Agency after the reformation of Liberation Daily in 1942,and picks some news which used the model of "Xinhua style" in each eras as data samples. The research shows that the development of "Xinhua style" can be divided into 3 stages: stage of politics dominated in 1942～1978, stage of revolution in the background of news revolution in 1979～2010 and stage of exploration in the background of "go to grassroots, turn style, change the style of writing "activities from 2011. Before news revolution in 1978, "Xinhua style" formed a rather fixed pattern, reflected as comprehensive news lead, structures based on time, and the political language. After 1978, "Xinhua style" made some breakthroughs in news’ themes, news’ language, and narrative structures.It changed the former pattern to a certain extent. Then, after the year of 2011, with activities of "go to grassroots, turn style, change the style of writing", "Xinhua style" improved its information presentation, and changed its former writing style to a better way, which reflected on the breakthrough of feature story about leaders.Secondly, to research the characteristics of different types of news of "Xinhua style", this research classifies some famous "Xinhua style" news in history:Military news, Leaders’ activity news, Disaster news, and Obituary news and researches found some differences of "Xinhua style" in those news. In Military news, "Xinhua style"is very good at the way of "speaking with the facts".It always use the information with the past tense, and have a clear political stance with its subjective writing. In news about leaders’ meeting, the information about both sides of the meeting were always described in the front of the news, and the main parts of the news are about the atmosphere and the issues. This kind of news always focus on our leaders and ends with the list of attendees. News about disaster always use the structure against disasters, focus on disaster relif instead of disaster itself, value appropriateness but ignore timeliness, and always report bad news by good ways.Obituaries in "Xinhua style" always start with the political identify, the cause of death and the age of the decedent, then describe the main life of the decedent with a profile style in the main part, and stress the attribution and political status at the end. The research of those four kinds of news answer the questions:"what is ’Xinhua style’" and "How ’Xinhua style’ shows the news".Thirdly, by taking Mu Qing’s journalistic practice and communication works as research materials, this paper focus on Mu Qing’ early journalistic practice of shaping "Xinhua style",which manifests in selecting more information reports, bluring the sources of news, grasping era requirements in typical personages’ writing, being good at details and sentimental writings. Meanwhile, this paper concerns the practical origins of Mu Qing’s thoughts of reforming news’ writing in new era, including the specific reflections of Mu Qing’s thoughts about "Writing news as prose", "Visual news" and "News as record" in his earlier works. Then, this paper discusses the changes in Mu Qing’s works in new ear, which mainly reflected in diversities of report types and specific of the news sources.Finally, in the background of Chinese traditional culture, this paper researches "Xinhua style"with changes of the Communist party’s propagandistic ideas and the rules of news writing, finding that "Xinhua style" remains the bases of Chinese biography’s writing style, and also following the writing characteristics of newspaper style in early 20 century and inheriting Liang Qichao’s idea of "Save the country by newspaper". At the same time, "Xinhua style" cooperate closely with the Communist party’s propaganda targets. By grand expression and abundant feelings in the reports, "Xinhua style" raises the emotional resonance of readers and builds the consciousness of community successfully. The news of "Xinhua style" play a big role in the Communist party’s propaganda. "Xinhua style" not only follows the basic rules of news writing, but also make some changes based on our local characteristics, and become an attractive style. So, "Xinhua style" is a good and significant part of multiple report forms in this ear.
