Nie Zhenning, is a famous publisher of the new period, who is not only a doer, but also a theorist. During many years of practice, he has published a number of theses about the editing and publication and also provided a lot of constructive suggestions for the publishing field. At present, he is a highly influential figure of the publishing.As a famous publisher of the new period, Nie Zhenning insists on taking the construction of national culture as his task, the mainstream culture as dominant and inclusiveness, keeping improving and innovation and taking the high-quality talents as the essence of the undertaking. When he devoted most of his time to the editing of literary publications in 1981, he has a long relationship with publication and editing. Firstly he worked as cooperative manager at Lijiang Press and then the cooperative manager of the People’s Literature Press, and now he is the CEO of the China Publishing Group Corp. During this time, he has devoted all his efforts to the business of publication and together with the stuff, a plenty of difficulties have been overcome. No matter which position, he works excellently.Over 30 years of working for publication, Nie Zhenning has practiced a lot and he has formed his own specific thoughts about the business of publication and the management. The thoughts about publication contain the management philosophy, operation strategy, thinking of marketing and the innovation of the publication system. The management thoughts contain the administrative management, talent management and project management etc. These valuable thoughts can serve as an educational purpose for the development of our publication.Here I would like to give a summary of his thoughts about business and management, which are based on the research of Nie Zhenning and it is provided through the personal publications and the other analysis of relevant literature, which is combined with his practical experience and activities of publication by Lijiang Press, People’s Literature Press and China Publishing Group Corp, for instance, going for cultural management, insisting on theory of benefit-priority, execution of whole business, going for multiple development, business strategic of digital publication, the marketing thoughts of full plan and tracking, talent management, the concept of raising stuff to a higher moral level. And in the same time, the practical educational meanings of his thoughts has to be inspected:the publisher has not only the business vision, but also the humanistic spirit. The publisher should dare to innovate and not fettered by old conventions. The publisher should be good at management but not confused. The publisher should be a man of culture and try to be an excellent publisher.
