Oxidation Reduction Potential, ORP, is an important index reflecting the oxidation-reduction ability of the system. But in the current industrial applications, because of the one-on-one situation using measuring instruments and sensors, the realization of ORP multi-point measuring faces multiple difficulties such as high costs, large size, inconveniences of installation and maintenance. Meanwhile, wired transmission mode also exists problems just as field wiring. For the existing shortage of ORP monitoring system, and on the basis of investigation and analysis on the relevant materials of the ORP method and wireless sensor network technology, this paper develops a type of ORP transmitter based on ZigBee technology, to improve ORP monitoring levels.This article firstly introduces some related theories in detail, such as ORP measurement principle and features, network topology and architecture of ZigBee technology. Besides, it analyses and illustrates that the effect of temperature on the ORP measurement should not be ignored, and temperature compensation should be given. Then, we complete the design of system hardware and software, with ORP signal conditioning circuit presented and CC2530 ZigBee module and the related hardware and software structures completed. The function to realize is to transmit the ORP signal through wireless network, and to make signal displayed in the PC. Besides, because of the battery power supply at the ZigBee end-node, "sleep-awake" mechanism is taken to reduce power consumption, and the hardware and software design of the battery voltage monitoring is made. In addition, the ORP calibration and temperature compensation calculation is included in the software parts. Finally, we make a point-to-point communication test for the system, do the analysis on the low power consumption, and complete a series of experiments, and good results have been achieved.In general, this paper is maily developing a type of ORP transmitter based on ZigBee technology, which can not only achieve a number of monitoring, reduce costs, but also avoid wiring problems in the cable transmission field. So it has a high utility value and economic value in improving the ORP monitoring, and it is very perspective.
