With the continuous development of China’s terrestrial digital TV technology in recent years, the movement of converting from analog to digital broadcast television has become faster. In the process of digitization of broadcast television, the new transmitting sites are growing very fast and distributing more widely, which are very different from the traditional ones. It is getting more important to put effort for the safety of the radio and television transmitting system by real-time monitoring the environmental conditions and operating parameters of the transmitters. Traditionally, manual checking and maintenance is scheduled to ensure the safe operation of the transmitters. As the transmitting equipment increases, more manpower and material resources are needed to guarantee the safety of radio and television broadcast system. So the traditional monitoring methods are not able to meet the actual requirement.In order to adapt to the demands for monitoring television broadcast transmitting site and improving the work efficiency, it is necessary to use the off the shelf technology to design a "intelligent data acquisition system for real-time monitoring of the transmitting sites.As a kind of communication method applied in more and more industrial area, ZigBee based products have the advantage of low cost, low power consumption, flexible networking and convenient construction. Because of these advantages, ZigBee technology provides a robust and flexible wireless communication infrastructure for building the intelligent monitoring system in the radio and television transmitting station.This paper mainly introduces a kind of wireless data acquisition system deployed in the radio and television launch transmitter room, which is built on ZigBee technology. For real-time monitoring purpose, the system is used for collecting the transmitter working environmental conditions such as the temperature and humidity, and the important data of transmitting equipment. At first the paper briefly introduces the ZigBee wireless technology and analyzes the ZigBee protocol stack. And then we will go through the whole system structure and the hardware/software design based on ZigBee technology. As the core of the monitoring system, TI company’s CC2530provides the wireless communication basis by running the network protocol stack, and also provides the functions for data collecting and packing.
