With the production of a higher level of automation and intelligence, put forward higher requirements on online monitoring tool breakage. In the process of production line batch processing tool breakage if not detected, reducing efficiency of production line, resulting in scrap workpieces, heavy damage to the tool and CNC machine tools and even cause accidents. Therefore, production line monitoring tool breakage is very necessary for the production line batch processing.This paper studies tool breakage monitoring about the production line mass production. Taking FANUC NC system for example, monitoring signals are got by using internal sensors of CNC machine tools, and tool breakage monitoring system of mass production is developed. During the process of system development, the following researches are done(1) Design experiments to explore the spindle power cyclical characteristics of mass production; The relationships between the spindle and feed shaft power and tool breakage are explored laying the foundation for the monitoring works.(2) Taking CNC machine tools with FANUC-Oi-mate-TD numerical control system for example, study the methods of CNC machine tools internal sensor signal acquisition and assess the feasibility of obtaining CNC machine tool internal sensor spindle power signal as a tool breakage monitoring.(3) Proposed the use of CNC code analysis methods to achieve segmentation by step monitoring based on the self-learning monitoring principles of mass production. This method is a good solution to solve the problem of synchronization comparing of real-time signal and learning signals.(4) Reasonable hardwares are selected, tool breakage monitoring system is developed according to the self-learning monitoring principle and method of NC code analysis, and the system is verified by experiments with high alarm accuracy.
