Development On The CAMAC Crate Control Unit Based On The Ethernet Interface

The contents of this paper develops CAMAC crate control unit(CCU) based on the Ethernet interface. This paper has completed the design of hardware and software of the CCU based on Ethernet interface. On the aspect of hardware, the CCU joines the control circuit on the basis of the original hardware which is based on the PCI interface, the control circuit is used to implement Ethernet transmission. The control circuit selects the ARM9 as its embedded processor, and runs the Linux operating system in the ARM9.The embedded processor connects with the DM9000 chip which leads to the Ethernet interface. The timing generated circuit connects with the system bus of the embedded processor. On the aspect of software, considering of the relatively poor transmission rate when CAMAC instructions transfered in the Ethernet, the software structure of the CNC gear measuring system is redesigned, the result of the change leads to the decrease of the transmission times and the increase of the amount of data transmitted.What the software structure has changed is that the control circuit completes the partial functions of computer.In this article, it compares the improved software structure of the measuring program with the traditional measuring program on the sampling time, the experiment shows that the software measurement program of the improved structure makes much progress of performance of CNC gear measuring center. Developed in this paper, the CAMAC CCU based on the Ethernet interface has successfully run the diagnostic program and it has passed though the test of the diagnostic program. The test results shows that the CAMAC CCU based on Ethernet interface meets the practical requirement.
