The Evolution Of Sci-tech Periodicals In Universities And Dissemination Of Science And Technology During 1960—1978

In order to clarify the situation of dissemination of the sci-tech periodicals in universities and provide the lesson for the research of history of science and technology, literature analysis and statistics methods are used to primarily analyze the path, content, means and influence of publication and dissemination of periodicals before, during and after period of the "Cultural Revolution".Comprehensive investigation was taken to the 192 journals published by universities before, during and after period of the "Cultural Revolution". On the basis of general overview, the Journal of Nanjing University published a lot of paper written by famous scholars before the "Cultural Revolution", Journal of Tsinghua University and Peking University founded by Peking University and Tsinghua University during period of the "Cultural Revolution" and Journal of Tongji University published after the "Cultural Revolution" were the representative journals. Content analysis and statistics methods are used to analyze the background of the whole society.Results show that before the "Cultural Revolution" the sci-tech periodicals in universities paid more attention to the scientific research to make contributions to the country; during period of the "Cultural Revolution" the sci-tech periodicals in universities were used as the tool of political criticism; after period of the "Cultural Revolution" the sci-tech periodicals returned to the academic journals.The conclusions show that all the sci-tech periodicals in universities could not escape from the political impact during 1960-1978, however, universities and colleges still took charge of the media organizations of sci-tech periodicals; in terms of content, some sci-tech periodicals spread scientific research achievements which had certain academic value, such as the Journal of Nanjing University published a large number of academic research papers to reflect its advantage of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, geology, geography, meteorology and so on; the Journal of Tsinghua University and Peking University published a number of scientific and technological research papers, involved in physics, chemistry, biological medicine, geological, geographical, architectural engineering, electronic engineering; the Journal of Tongji University published articles on bridges, buildings, roads, construction, materials to reflect its discipline superiority and the characteristic. And the research of science history, research of Marx’s Mathematical Manuscripts had influence on the scientific research and dissemination. The sci-tech periodicals in universities during 1960-1978 played an important role on reflecting the science and technology research and achievements produced by the universities, improving the university discipline system and promoting the spread of the social science and technology.
