Along with the introduction of the international LTE(Long Term Evolution) and WiMAX(Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access), the mobile communication system has moved at 4G era. The cell phone antenna as an important part of mobile terminal plays a key role of the performance of wireless transmission. In order to meet the requirement of modern mobile communication system, the design of internal mobile phone antenna should include all the 2G,3G and 4G operating bandwidth of wireless mobile communication systems, and make it seamless broadband communications within the entire operating bandwidth. Therefore, the study of multi-bands internal handset antenna has great significance.The thesis introduces the basics of antenna design as well as two main types of built-in antennas:Planar Inverted F antenna and Monopole Antenna, and analyzes the features of them. For the current research focus and trends of cell phone antennas, the design methods of multi-band antenna used for current mobile phone are summarized. Mainly using of the spatial diversity method and combining with multi-branched resonance technology, parasitic coupling technology and loading a matching circuit technology, one main antenna and two diversity antennas of multiple bands are designed with the simulation software Ansoft HFSS. Finally the antenna is built and measured, and the experimental results agree well with the simulation results as what is proposed in this thesis. The solution provided will be great helpful for design multi-band antenna of mobile phones.
