Research On Dissemination And Influence Of "Social Memory" In China Archives Community

Memory, which is a concept that belongs to psychology or brain science areas, continues to be given more extensive content in the social development. Affected by social memory studies of sociology, anthropology and other subjects, the international archives community introduced the concept of social memory into Archival Science in the 1990s. At the Fifteenth International Congress on Archives, the theme was "Archives, Memory and Knowledge", which caused research upsurge on "social memory" in archives community.Research on the memory in China archives community can be traced back to the mid-20th century, but the concept of memory has not been raised in China archives community until the Thirteenth International Congress on Archives. The archivists has launched a lively discussion of the concept of "social memory", and accumulated a wealth of research results, even produced social memory paradigm. In addition, our archivists actively carry out practical work of social memory. Those works not only protect the precious archives, but also expand the influence of the archives department. More importantly, those works provide a wealth of memory resources for the future.This paper uses the method of literature research, quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis as well as comprehensive analysis. Based on the literature measurement results, combined with the project practice, the paper clarifies the development of "social memory" in China archives community. Then, the paper introduces the representatives of this study. Finally, the paper analyzes the significant impact on China archives community of "social memory".The first chapter introduces the background and significance, status, object and contents, methods and ideas, innovations of this research.The second chapter summarizes and defines the concept of social memory, and introduces the production and dissemination of "social memory" in international archives community, so as to have a general understanding and cognitive of social memory.The third chapter carries out a statistical analysis of the relevant literature of "social memory". From the aspects of journal articles, dissertations, books, fund projects, conferences and forums, the paper analyzes the years and themes of various types of literature, so as to grasp research status and context of "social memory" of China archives community.The fourth chapter studies the development of "social memory" in China archives community from a practical perspective, and mainly introduces the significance of Memory of the World Program, China Archival Heritage Project and Urban Memory Project.The fifth chapter summarizes the three development stages of "social memory" in China archives community according to the statistical analysis of literature and practical works:budding of archives memory, rising of archives memory and proposing of social memory paradigm. Besides, the paper extracts main viewpoints of representatives such as Ding Huadong, Feng Huiling and Ren Hanzhong.The sixth chapter summarizes significant impact of "social memory" to the China archives community, including the promotion of academic exchange and dissemination of domestic and international archives community, deepen mutual learning and influence between related subjects and the promotion of new paradigm exploration of Archival Science.The seventh chapter summaries the paper and analyzes the shortcomings of this paper.
