Research Of Key Technologies For Engineering Realization Of Protocol Conversion

More and more people use the Internet. We also create a number of different communication protocols according to the specific design requirements. The number of protocols is growing. The demand of communication between different protocols grows.This requires some special protocol conversion equipment to achieve this purpose.Based on the protocol conversion project, this paper gives the engineering realization method. Many of specific design requirements were analysed here. Among them, this article mainly discusses the design and implementation of Ethernet protocol on FPGA.First of all, it introduced the modules used in the protocol conversion and their corresponding functions, including the MAC module, internal connection module, cyclic redundancy check module, and medium independent interface. It mainly gives the overall design scheme of Ethernet MAC controller and the module partition, including the design and implementation of each module. Especially, this dissertation analyzed the MAC user interface which is connected with an external module, host or device interface, the MDIO interface, and the detailed content of physical interface. The main technique difficulty is the data connection between external interface and internal module. After finishing the module design, it gives the simulation results in module level. Finally, this dissertation achieves the Ethernet MAC protocol conversion on FPGA chip. This system can process the data of network, and also configure the external PHY chip through MDIO interface.Because of the IP core provided by the manufacturer, also combined with system design,the FPGA resource usage is more reasonable in final system. This design provides a meaningful reference for the same kind of protocol conversion.
