Investment Decision Of Digital Preservation Project

With the implement of digital preservation projects, it guaranteed the long-term storage and sustainability access of digital resources. And with the development of computer and network technology, our understanding of digital resources and utilization has been enhanced, it’s necessary to implement the digital preservation project, researches related with digital preservation project is getting more. But how can we make the decision of the digital preservation project and how can we get the ideal income and so on. We should concern all these problems. Another problem we should notice is, present researches mostly focused on the technical aspects, try to explore the feasibility of the technology, neglected the non-technical aspects. The successful implement of digital preservation project is the result of many factors, so the research for non-technical aspects is necessary. The topic of this paper comes from the non-technical aspects— the uncertainty of digital preservation project’s cost, in order to do some research of digital preservation project in the aspect of economic aspects.This paper based on the analysis of characteristics and economic attributes of digital preservation projects, study the investment decision of digital preservation projects. The research content can be divided into the following three aspects.The first aspect is divided the cost of digital preservation project into two parts, internal cost and external cost, analyzed the influence factors of cost uncertainty, points out the influence of uncertainty cost.The second part is build the investment decision-making model under cost uncertainty, determine and compare with the investment decision-making model under cost certainty, find out the difference between the two models.The third part is solve the decision-making model under cost uncertainty and point out the application of the model, come to the research conclusion.
