With the rapid development of IOT(internet of things), high performance and high sensitivity sensors are indispensable. Fiber optical sensor has become a rising star in the sensor family due to its many advantages. Fiber optical sensor has many unique properties, such as anti-electromagnetic interference, high sensitivity, simple structure, and no need of complex modulation and demodulation, etc. All these properties have attracted many excellent scientists to study optical fiber sensor.This article focuses on experimental and theoretical study of mcrobending deformation intension modulation fiber-optical sensor. Firstly, the components of optical fiber were presented based on its structure. Secondly, the optic principles of optical fiber were discussed theoretically. Lastly, experiments have been carried out and the results have been analyzed to generate some conclusions. The main contents and innovations are as follows:1. Introduction section describes the current development of sensors and the basic principle of fiber optic sensor.2. The basic structure of optical fiber has been discussed3. The underlying principles of intensity modulated optical fiber sensor have been analyzed theoretically; the propagation theory of evanescent-field in optical fiber and bending loss theory together with related calculations have also been discussed.4. Based on theoretical analysis, macrobending Deformation Intension Modulation Fiber-optical Sensor was designed and implemented. Experiments have been carried out to study the properties of the optical fiber sensor.Based on the data obtained, the correlation of various parameters and the sensitivity of optical fiber sensor has been analyzed. In a slightly modified form, the afore-prepared optical fiber sensor has been utilized in a medical related application to measure human breath and successfully achieved real-time monitoring.
