Culture is the bloodline and lifeblood for a country and a nation to survive and develop constantly. The common consensus in the whole nation of publicizing socialist core values, carrying forward and inheriting Chinese traditional culture and developing the strategy of powerful cultural country has been reached, since from the 18th CPC National Congress. Broadcast Television media, as mainstream mass media of communication that integrates with audio visual functions, occupies a crucial position and role on producing literary works, serving for the society and disseminating culture, etc., aspects. Therefore, it should be incumbent on undertaking the heavy responsibility of constructing "powerful cultural country".In 2014, television quiz show-I Know co-presented by traditional media Southern Weekly and Sichuan Satellite TV has been received good reputation inside and outside the industry and has commandeered the first place of 2014’s Chinese TV culture. This is an original television quiz show researched and developed by Southern Weekly independently. During the period from August 30th,2014 to November 22nd,2014, it was broadcasted in Sichuan Satellite TV at 8:30 every Saturday. The first season has broadcasted a total of 13 episodes. This program also has been recognized in the document by State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of The People’s Republic of China. It requires each unit of the State Administration of Press, Publication Radio, Film and Television to learn from the innovative method of I Know, and inherit original television programs of Chinese excellent cultural roots positively. In current society with prevalent consumerism and enthusiasm for pan-entertainment,I Know can provide the new thought and new method for development and transition of traditional media in the aspects of spreading Chinese excellent traditional culture and modernization operating model.Tracing the source, this paper settles development track of Chinese television quiz shows by beginning with a historical perspective:from emphasizing on publicizing and educating television knowledge contest stage, to edutainment of intelligent entertainment stage, and to clone and imitate homogeneous competition. This paper, based on analyzing different characteristics of programs at each stage, summarizes proper intellectual-cultural orientation, entertainment, interactivity, competitiveness and irritation, etc., general characteristics of television quiz shows. Production of television programs subject to influences of politics, economy and culture, etc., multiple aspects.The appearance of I Know also maps complicated social context, profound policy background and inefficient industrial state. The prevalence of consumerism and propagation of entertainment constantly clear up humanistic spirit in medium and put Chinese traditional culture into declined pattern. Facing to such a rigorous cultural transmission environment, the Central deploys a strategic target of "powerful cultural country". The State Administration of Radio Film and Television comes on "cutback on TV entertainment" to boycott "vulgar and degraded" problems and encourage program innovation. Under such a policy background, Southern Weekly grasps a times opportunity of media convergence and develops "Chinese Crossword Lite" in game special column into a television quiz show, by virtue of extensive audience foundation and successful content experience.As an original television program developed by paper media,I Know has unique communication idea and narrative strategy. The program defines a communication idea of "reestablishing Chinese charm", sticking to carry forward traditional cultural value, sparing no efforts to forge a knowledge question bank with the core of Chinese common sense, trying hard to make I Know evolve into a platform for cultural inheritance, and realizing guidance of mainstream value. In addition,I Know also constructs a complete set of narrative strategy. Under the narrative mode framework of "competition-ceremony", through multidimensional narrators, televised narrative time, and privative symbolic narrative code, it comprehensively shows art of organizing stories to audiences.I Know wins economic benefit and social benefit and brings about certain enlightenment for traditional media transition and R& D of Chinese original television program under the times of media convergence:In content production, it pays attention to innovating "competition rules", takes advantage of topic figures to serve as "a program tutor", and attracts attention of audiences. In marketing promotion, it keeps a foothold on advantages of traditional media, establishes a promotion channel of any media. Furthermore, the program also enlarges input intensity of data analysis, makes the first move, and realizes precise localization of audiences. Generally speaking,I Know, as an original quiz show developed by transition of paper media, makes a proper contribution to carrying forward socialist core values and realizing a strategy of "powerful cultural country". Meanwhile, we also hope that Chinese television can appear more original television programs with novel content and various forms in the future.
