Narrative Study On TV Quiz Show

This paper studies the narration of TV quiz show from the view of narratology. With the help of Classical narratology and Postclassical narratology, we try to explore the current situation and future development of TV quiz show. Based on the study of narratology and analysis of TV quiz show, we further find some problems that may influence the progress of the whole program. We insist on discovering some solutions to optimize the program. The combination of narratology and TV quiz show contributes to expand the range of application on narratology.The narrative analysis of TV quiz show is from the following three aspects:In the first chapter, we focus on the text analysis of TV quiz show from the view of Classical narratology. According to the dichotomy of Classical narratology, the analysis of narrative text is generally from two aspects:story and discourse. Therefore, we apply the theory to the text analysis of TV quiz show. In the light of story, we discuss not only the model narrative structure of TV quiz show, but the motif existed in this TV program. In the analysis of discourse, we pay much attention to the narrator, narrative code, narrative time and space of TV quiz show.In the second chapter, we discuss the interaction between the narration of the TV quiz show and the context from the point of Postclassical narratology. According to the theory, the narrative text is the production of the cultural context, so that we should lay stress on the relationship between the creative context and acceptive context. The TV quiz show, as a narrative text, should be accordance to the media context. Therefore, we talk about the influence of context on the TV program at first. Secondly, we pay attention to the variation of the narrative strategy during the development of the TV quiz show. Finally, we elaborate the interaction between the narration of the TV quiz show and the context in politics, economy, culture, audience and media respectively.In the third chapter, we pay attention to the future development of the TV quiz show. On the basis of narrative analysis on the TV quiz show ahead, some suggestion or strategies can be carried out from the perspective of narratology. We wish to bring some changes to the program, such as adding more narrative conflicts, change the narrative structure, strengthening the function of narrator, and stressing on the narrative context. From such a new perspective, the TV quiz show can find much more approaches to develop itself, and show a greater advantage over other programs.
