The Establishing And Clinical Application Of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Database

ObjectiveTo construct the database for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, save the specialized clinical information and provide data for research in pathogenesis and treatment by the study of clinical features of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.MethodThe database, established by using Visual studio. NET 2010 and Microsoft Access, contains four operating interfaces:medical records, follow-up records, data query and system management. We can input the clinical data of the patients with ALS into the database, modify, query and data output is also permitted. We reviewed the information of 104 patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, who was admitted to department of Encephalopathy (IV) from 2005 September to 2010 December. General information clinical characteristic symptom and data of examination of the patients were researched.ResultsThe functions of Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis database including storage, data input and output, search query etc. The mean age of onset was 52.58 years. Sex ratio was 2.2:1. Amyasthenia and amyotrophic is the most common symptom. The creatine kinase was mild elevation.ConclusionALS database is exact, fast and comprehensive. The database should be a powerful tool for clinical research.
