Research And Design Of Mobile Digital Library Platform

With the rapid development of 3G/4G technology and digital library technology, a large number of library readers are accessing the network through the mobile terminal. Meanwhile, the research scope of digital library service has been extended to the mobile network services from the library service and cable network service gradually. Due to the change of the reader’s demand, also the change of library service function, the mobile digital library becomes the research hot spot.In this paper, the research status and the key technologies, such as mobile computing, WAP2.0, private cloud technology were discussed. The platform model of the mobile digital library put forward, under the consideration of the requirements of the students, the teachers and the administrators. Firstly, the model integrated the digital resources of library into three levels:business application layer, application layer and data resource layer. Based on the processing of metadata, the readers could access library mobile resources one-stop, even share the resources of other libraries by resources dispatch and documents transfer. Then, the connection between the platform and OP AC, also the connection of electronic resources were realized by analyzing the workflow of mobile digital library. The key issues, such as the user access identification, the mixed mobile terminal browse interface, the uniform search interface of heterogeneous databases, were solved by it. Finally, the mobile digital library platform realized the functions of user center, library collection, e-book reading, electronic journals reading, announcements and news, video reading and so on. In the development process, the mobile digital library, by combining its own characteristics and following the basic rules of the library, optimized the service mode of traditional library, upgraded the service level and improved the service quality of the existing library in a certain extent.This platform had been applied in a university library, it worked stable and performed well with the above functions, which did have the certain practical value.
