With the increasingly severe competition in the business market, rapid development of mobile Internet and deepening integration of three networks, the development of carriers’network encounter a lot of serious challenges such as how to accelerate technological evolution, enhance the level of intelligence to support business innovation, and improve the value of a network. With the explosive development of the network, a large number of network users take up most of network address, the traditional IP address has been basically exhausted. In this context, the development of China Telecom MAN which is the core of the broadband network is facing two issues. Firstly, China Telecom’s existing network architecture is unable to meet the growing user and business needs; secondly, how to speed up the smooth transition of China Telecom MAN from IPv4 to IPv6 networks and-strive to dominate the development of the next generation’s Internet.This paper is based on the case happened in Sanming City, Fujian Province. Research is about how to adjust and implement MAN routing protocols to optimize the existing framework of the Chinese telecommunications MAN and analyze the evolution from IPv4 to IPv6 according to the model for metropolitan area network routing.I fully participated in the project named Optimization for Sanming Telecom IP MAN Routing Architecture and involved in demand analysis, planning and design, selecting plans, testing as well as the day-to-day maintenance work. On the basis of analyses about the current network status and related network equipments of Sanming City metro network, the mold was built and gradually improved. Original OSPF routing models were analyzed based on the comparative analysis about IBGP+OSPF routing model and IBGP+ISIS routing model. Based on the analyses of the model, suitable plans for Sanming telecommunications business development and IPv6 evolution of technology deployment MAN backbone network was selected and put into practice. According to the implementation of the specific circumstances, author summed routing model to optimize the transformation of the feasibility and operability. Also the author made use of the limited resources of the existing network to analyze and test the deployment feasibility of IPv6 dual-stack technology, NAT444 and DS-LILE in the current network. The final result verified the existing network architecture devices of Sanming City Telecom MAN have the ability to deploy dual-stack technology and NAT444 technology.Reference to actual work experience of the author, Development, of China Telecom Guidance, and the IP network theory, implementation of telecom network routing architecture optimization project is discussed ’in this paper. Some of the conclusions of this paper are based on the existing network of small and medium-sized MAN so that they possess great reference value especially for small and medium-sized operators metro network optimization.
