The construction industry is an industry of intensive information.Modern construction project is of grand scale and the number of people involved is quite large. It also involves a large quantity of departments, both at home and abroad. What’s more, there are a great many documents connected with the construction project, which contain a vast amount of information. However, the traditional Construction Collaborative Extranets is featured as complex administrative structures, low efficiency and high cost, which easily contributes to great loss caused by a lack of information communication. The Web-based Construction Collaborative Extranets is a new technology, which has improved the information management communication and collaboration in construction industry.Studies have justified the emergence, development and realization of Web-based Construction Collaborative Extranets, which has been widely used in reality.Unfortunately, the current CCE is greatly limited in terms of its development in the domestic market. Basically, there are four reasons for this misfortune. Firstly, the workers of construction companies has a complete lack of new knowledge, which would caused them to resist this new technology. Secondly, the current structure of this industry is split, making it hard to communicate thoroughly.Next, the agreement of unified standard has not reached yet. Finally, there are still some problems concerning the system safety. The realization and utilization rate is not satisfying and the enough function analysis is desperately lacked, which will have a seriously bad influence on the usage of the system. To perfect the system function, this essay put forward the research on Web-based Construction Collaborative Extranets. It is of great significance for the providers, customers and researchers involved in the system development. This essay focuses on the function analysis of Web-based Construction Collaborative Extranets. The status quo and features of Web-based Construction Collaborative Extranets has been found out firstly by consulting the related documents. Then the supposed functions of Web-based Construction Collaborative Extranetshave been put forward by analyzing the whole function requirements of Web-based Construction Collaborative Extranets and the study results of related documents.Based on what has been done, the frame model of Web-based Construction Collaborative Extranetshas been set up. To further clear the usage of this system, the detaileddescriptions of the four great functions will also be found in this essay. Then, the users’ needs have been studied, analyzing whether the current functions provided by the system has satisfied the needs of customers.Next, the system function is assessed to make sure how well the system function has been realized and make some suggestions on the weaknesses of the system. In the process, the value project assessment---YX--is adopted to value the importance of the system functions and sort them out.The analysis of the function of Web-based Construction Collaborative Extranets can provide the theory basis for the development and selection of Web-based Construction Collaborative Extranets or similar system. Thus, it will make the researchers and software developers attach great importance to the function analysis and the customers’ needs, guaranteeing that the design and development of the system satisfies the needs of customers, making those needs expressed and realized fully in the system. This can in turn guarantee the efficient usage of the similar Web-based Construction Collaborative Extranets. It is of great significance practically and theoretically for the guarantee of efficient usages of Web-based Construction Collaborative Extranets in practice, guarantee of the quality of information management and communication and promotion of collaboration.
