Intelligent electric actuators are widely used in modern industrial control system to control and regulate valves. In this paper, existing actuators home and abroad are deeply analyzed and studied, at the same time, combining with modern control concept and using modern design tools, a new type of intelligent electric actuator was designed and developed. Shorten the product development cycle, improve the reliability and stability of the product.This paper focuses on two key components of intelligent electric actuators, stroke detection device and a torque detection device, for a comprehensive study and design. Stroke detection device realizes its function with combining the photoelectric encoder and clearance gear, torque detection device uses a ceramic pressure sensor under the Pascal’s principle. As electric motor acts as the power source of the actuator, combined with the use features of electric actuator, characteristics of the three-phase asynchronous motor are analyzed and designed, and self-testing equipment were made to detect motor characteristics. Introduction of other components and products features are given comprehensively in this paper. By using softwares like SolidWorks, ANSYS, simulation analysis of strength and rational of the product structure was carried on. Prototype production was made, and kinds of type tests that were specified in the relevant standard were realized by self-designed test equipment to verify the reliability and stability of the design.After various type test, the product was proved meeting the requirements for design and use, it is simple structured and can be reliable operated. Now the design enters the small batch production, and lays the groundwork for eventual industrialization and seriation.
