Pathological examination, which is known as the "gold standard" of clinical diagnosis, plays an important role in clinical diagnosis. Pathology information system (PIS) works around the pathology workflow, providing information service for pathological examinations and diagnosis through the use of modern information technologies. Its purpose is to improve the efficiency and accuracy of pathological examination work. However, the workflow of the current pathological information management system is chaotic and single function, leading to the fact that information cannot be shared between different pathology information management system. With the development of the Regional Health Informatization, regional pathology information management system arises at the historic moment. The goal of the system is to solve the imbalance of pathological resource allocation and large differences between levels of the pathological diagnosis, as well as pathological management information sharing.In this paper we analyzes the development and present situations of both regional health information and pathology information management system, and also explores the future direction of the regional pathology information management system, finally we propose a regional pathology information management system based on the standardization.This paper discusses the standardization of pathology management workflow and related medical information exchange standards issues; Study the remote consultation of regional pathological management system, as well as some main problems in large data storage of digital microscopic image; We design a regional pathology information management system based on the standardization of pathology workflow, which comply with the standards of IHE,HL7,DICOM. The system is not only suitable for the regional pathological diagnosis center, but also applies to the hospital’s department of pathology. In this paper we have completed the overall framework and the design of the functional modules. The system adopts.NET languages, oracle database and other technologies, to achieve the development of interface and some functions of regional pathology information management system server, as well as some workstations. However, there are some problems that we don’t go for further researches, so it needs to be improved and make perfect in the future.
