The environments of digital information, the ubiquity of mobile communications, intelligent information tools and user open access are affecting the library’s operating modes and processes, and which also influence library user’s behavior profoundly.In the new environment, how to integrate the existing manpower, material resources, financial resources and technical equipment to build a new organizational structure pattern is particularly important for future development of university libraries.Based on such consideration, this paper embarks from the variety new environment that university libraries are facing, and analyze the organizational structure of university library combining theory and practice,which have important realistic meanings for the future development of university library.This thesis studies the academic achievements of university library’s organizational structure by experts and scholars at home and abroad.By using the relevant organization theory in management and organizational behavior, we analyze organization structure evolution processes of university libraries,and also compare the different organizational structures type and the difference between China and foreign university library’s structures.Combining the current variety environment for university library,we give a new analysis on the influences of university library’s strategic target,organization scale,user base and technical factors, which will provide certain theoretical and research background support for the restructuring of university library organizational structure.During the restructuring process, we should follow principles of the user-oriented,simplification,flexible and the key elements of work specialization,departmentalization,chain of command,span of control, centralization and formalization should also be considered. The department formation,personnel allocation and work flow need to be recombined and assigned. Based on the past theory and practice of university library reforms,we establish the user-demanding-oriented restructuring target.And we finally choose organic model as the theoretical model of university library organizational restructuring by comparing the pyramid, matrix structure and organic model.The university library organization structure will be divided into comprehensive management layer, user service layer, project group layer and technical service layer by the restructuring.And every layer,s work is doing with user as the center,which can enhance the innovation and adaptation of dynamic environment. In short,the organic,solid,high adaptability structure is very suitable for the future development demand of university library.
