In the era when the world pays more and more attention to the development ofeconomy, information technology and resources have become one of the importantfactors to the improvement of economic development. After entering the21st century,people cast more attention to the vast ocean naturally. Thus, the economy in the21stcentury is also known as “ocean economy”. Resource conflicts and disputes overislands arising thereby increase day and night. China has a long coastline and theeconomic development has made us pay more attention to the ocean. At the sametime, for the safety of our maritime traffic and energy path, we must develop shippingindustry and information technology vigorously.Radio-frequency Identification (RFID) is a wireless, non-contact identificationtechnology. This automatic identification technology began in1990s. The process iscarried out through transmitting and receiving of electromagnetic waves with thewireless radio frequency transmission principle as its technological basis. During theidentification process, there is no need to directly touch the target objects and theprocess is automatically completed. The advantages include less impact to thesurrounding environment, continuous automatic identification with no touch, objectsrecognition with penetration function through nonmetallic objects and a certaindegree of anti-interference ability.Firstly, the paper analyzed the causes of insufficient utilization of informationabout the management of ship spare parts and the irrational allocation of the resources;then rational allocation of resources relying on information management means wasproposed so as to realize an integrated and information-based ship spare partsmanagement system, which is the research direction of the research project.The paper also analyzed the framework structure and technology selection forthe ship spare parts system based on RFID technology and offered a design for thecore system of automatic identification and data information monitoring system onspare parts for improving the level and efficiency of ship spare parts management andenhancing the maintenance and spare parts management level scientifically. Inaddition, the design of the traditional operation process and management method for spare parts management based on the implementation and application of RFIDtechnology were optimized. It is significantly important to guarantee the reliability ofthe equipment and improvement of the information-based management. Finally, thepaper analyzed the characteristics of the system, existing problems and applicationprospect.
