Research On The Key Technology Of IPTV Set-top Box

IPTV is the representative of Triple Play and is developing fast, which leads to thedramatic increasing of the number of IPTV terminals and the need of IPTV services andintelligent terminals. All kinds of IPTV extensions pour out and the management of termi-nals becomes more and more important.The paper ports the J2ME emulator-MicroEmulator to Android platform and imple-ments an extension of IPTV in the form of middleware,solving problems including thecompatibility pro-blem of UI,graphics, event and virtual machine, eliminating thedifference between the J2ME Virtual Machine and the Android Dalvik by adding an extratier called Dx under the typical framework of J2ME. The result shows that though themethod of transforming all the class files of a jar file into a dex file makes it much slowerfor the J2ME application to start at first compared to the method of executing the class filedirectly,it has some advantage in the long run.In order to make a contrast study between the way of implementing a middleware bya separate application and by a Plug-in, the paper makes a study of the implementation ofthe J2ME browser Plug-in on Android platform. As Plug-in can bring instabitity for brow-ser, implementing the middleware by a separate application has some advangage.Besides, the TR-069protocol is implemented according to the IPTV3.0standard ofChina Telecom, including the implementation of the tiers of RPC, SOAP, HTTP, TCP.For the tier of RPC, the RPCs is defined and implemented;the tier of SOAP, the SOAPmessage is assembled and parsed; the tier of HTTP, the SOAP message is packaged in theHTTP message and sended;the tier of TCP, a certain port of the terminal is listened to waitthe request from the terminal management system. In the end, the process of how TR-069is used to manage the terminals is explained.
