In recent years, the technology of smart robot develops rapidly with its morewidespread application area. Meanwhile, the greeting service robot is received in all worksof life as well. Based on the actual project “History Museum greeting service robotXiaomai system of Huzhong Science and Technology University”, according to thefunctional requirements and performance indicators that put forward in the project, agreeting service robot that has the guide function is developed. It is very friendly, and cando man-machine interaction with smart chat function.The software system of the greeting service robot, which manages its software andhardware, is a kind of system software. Firstly, modular design separates its system intofive parts, that are transformCore kernel module, motion control module, man-machineinteraction module, smart dialog module, Kinect module. The connection management,which adopts single-linked list method, between transformCore kernel module and othermodules is implemented. Forwarding packet among all modules is also realized, in orderto handle the difference of transmission speed, the method of ring buffer queue is used inthis process. Besides, the protocol formats used in the communication mode of eachmodule are defined entirely. Motion control module is used to encapsulate the controlinstruction that comes from PLC in the low level, which is convenient to develop theapplications in the high level. Smart dialogue module can recognize visitors’ voiceinformation, answer the questions and output the language. For Smart dialogue module, itsspeech recognition rate, hit rate and speech synthesis and output are improved.Man-machine interaction module, using clear and simple three-dimensional interactionthat includes action interaction, expression interaction, interface interaction, gives visitorsa rich experience. A set of Kinect equipment developed by Microsoft is embedded into therobot so that the interaction feeling is better than other greeting service robot. What’smore, its imitation skill is also innovated. Finally, its function, performance and safety aretested.At the end of the thesis, all the work that is done for the robot is summarized. Theachievements and unfinished work are pointed out, and the future work is presented.
