With the increase of business requirements, optical network has developed from the original Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) to Dense Wave Length Division Multiplexing (DWDM) and Multi-Service Transport Platform (MSTP) and later to Optical Transport Network (OTN) and Packet Transport Network (PTN) and now to its third generation of intellectual optical network, i.e. Software-defined Optical Network, which rapidly becomes the heated topic in the research area.With the development of optical network, the technology of optical network management is also in constant development. However, there remains many problems during its development. First of all, it encounters the fact that optical network bears more services, demands bigger business size and scale, and requires more complicated configuration and management to achieve multi-granularity and multi-device. Therefore, the present thesis regards the design and realization of the network management system of intellectual multi-service optical transport device as one of the main research contents. Secondly, there is no unified international or national standard for optical network management, each manufacture has adopted individual protocol to proceed network management information transformation, which has resulted in the difficulties for intra-manufacture network information transformation and communication as well as the problems for the management and maintenance of the devices composed from different manufactures. Thus, it is of great necessity to study the interconnection and interworking of optical network management system devices between different manufactures. Last but not least, research on the Software-defined Optical Network Management technology has just started in the field with many issues to be solved. For instance, how to achieve the centralized control and management of the network, how the new network is compatible with the traditional one, how to achieve the programmable management of the traditional network device, and so on so forth. Hence, the present thesis also selected the research on SDON as one of its research contents.The present thesis focused on the problems encountered in the optical network management technology. It has designed and realized the multi-service network management system. By designing the unified Management Information Base (MIB), and analyzing and adapting the network management information respectively, it also realized the interconnection and interworking among multi-manufacturer network information. Apart from that, the thesis studied Software-defined Network management technology. The main content and innovations are listed as below:1. It studied the configuration and management demand of multi-service optical transmission network. Also it designed and achieved the intelligent multi-service optical transmission network management system based on SNMP, which could conduct the unified transformation and configuration management of multi-services, including voice service, serial data service, El service, Ethernet service and satellite service. By designing the unified Management Information Base (MIB), it realized the interconnection and interworking among multi-manufactures’ intelligent multi-service optical transmission network management systems.2. It studied the structure and theory of network management system based on Optical Transport Network (OTN) device. It designed the adaptation solution for OTN network management system, achieved its record and analysis, and analyzed the frame structure of OTN network management system protocol. Besides, it achieved interconnection and interworking between multi manufacture OTN device management information by the application of network information adaptation.3. It studied the Software-defined optical network (SDON). It proposed the modified SDON framework, which added the dummy component layer to the original three:layer structure abstracting the network function. It realized the virtualization of optical network recourses, whose feasibility has been testified.4. Based on the reconstructed SDON architecture and virtual components, it further studied the SDON management technology. It has designed the network management function module, realized both the centralized control and management of SDON, and the compatibility of multi-devices.
