With the emergence of cloud computing and high-bitrate video services,data center applications have presented the high burstiness and high-bandwidth characteristics.Nowadays,the development of optical network has turned to spectrum flexible optical networks.During the fast development of optical networks,high-capacity and long-distance are not the only demands,dynamic and flexible control becomes more and more important,which cannot be met by the existing communication mode of traditional automatic switched optical network.Software defined optical networks can provide the author of resource management to each plane of network,use software programing approach to dynamically customize and meet the various requirements.Meanwhile,we need more innovative applications in software defined optical networks to provide services.This topic studies the control mechanism of northbound interface in software defined optical networks,and innovative applications in the application layer of software defined optical networks.The major contribution of this paper includes:1.As the northbound interface of services in spectrum flexible optical networks is so complicated and diverse,we proposed an innovative framework called Service Logic Processing Model(SLPM)to manage the REST API between application plane and control plane.The demonstration shows that,the Service Logic Processing Model can effectively manage the REST APIs,and improve the architecture of network control in software defined optical networks.2.For software defined spectrum flexible optical networks,users of network resources have dynamic requirements about the bandwidth.In order to solve this problem,we design and propose an innovative application for Bandwidth on Demand(BoD)services.The analysis of the demonstration shows that BoD APP is so convenient for network users to manage the services.The APP can successfully configure and adjust the bandwidth according to user's different requirements of bandwidth in different situations and improve the utilization efficiency of the network bandwidth resources.3.In order to solve the increasing quantity of network resources users,we propose a novel application by using network virtualization technology.The result of demonstration shows that,the Virtual Optical Network Application(VON APP)can support multiple tenants to share the network resources securely and stably,improve the utilization efficiency of the network resources.
