With the rapid development of the network, especially in the21st century, the human activity produced a lot of network data, human enter the era of big data. The network transmission requirement are also increasing, the optical network management develops from rough control to fine control, but the existing intelligent optical network gradually overwhelmed, the support of new network features are not enough or complex. The network quality of service (QoS) is the technology to solve network transmission latency and blocking problems, it is a important technology to better transmit the flows. However, the existing intelligent optical network’s control plan are complex, the implementations of the QoS are complex and have high requirement of network equipment.Software defined network (SDN) is a new network architecture which separate the control plane and forward plane, and has the centralized control mode. The network has the underlying device abstraction and provide programming interface for the network operator. Due to the unified control structure, the network management, the communication between networks will have a qualitative leap, is a revolutionary development of the network.Using the structure of software defined network is the new direction of the optical network. This paper studies the method to implement the QoS of optical network using software defined network, based on OpenFlow protocol.In this paper, start from optical network, the detailed investigation has been carried out about the control structure of optical network. This paper studies the QoS evaluation system, the model realization, the implementation of QoS. The paper studies the feasibility of software defined optical network, and analyze the OpenFlow protocol deeply. Implement the software defined optical network as the OpenFlow protocol with the optical extension. Based on the models of QoS implementation, this paper studies the QoS methods in SDON. Finally through the experiment, enabling a variety of optical network QoS model, and verify the realization of an optical network based QoS features OpenFlow protocol feasible and efficiency.
