More and more applications and services need to interact with the real world, so related theories and technologies about IOT (Internet of Things) thus gradually become a research hotspot. Due to the highly distributed structural characteristics of IOT, efficient and rational use of resources and information has become an urgent problem. The thesis focuses on resource modeling, which is the foundation of resource management. Resources in IOT have some distinctive features:heterogeneity, instability, evolution and so on. These features cause the high complexity of resource management and maintenance. Besides, an efficient resource management technique should also reuse resources horizontally and vertically.Ontologies perform well in expression and information exchange, so they are wildly employed in resource modeling. But it is difficult for a person in a specific field to understand concepts of ontologies. Moreover, the ontology can’t directly and concisely describe resources in business domain and transform sensing information to more meaningful contextual information.Considering the above problems and the specific situation of IOT, we design and develop a semantic modeling tool based on "domain template" It has two core functions:the resource modeling based on domain template and the data mapping of real-time database. Domain template is the specifications constructed by the concepts in business domain. Based on the research about IOT application, we divide all objects in IOT into two classes:resources-monitoring equipments and entities-monitored objects and propose concepts like template, instance, bind, conversion and so on. These make business persons build their model conveniently and efficiently in a higher level and increase productivity. At the end, we test the fuction of the modeling tool and build a simple user case to verify the tool’s validity. Experimental results show that the semantic modeling tool can meet the business need and build valid resource models, which achieve our desired functional requirements.
