With the rapid development of Internet, the size of network becomes larger and larger. There are much more large scale of datacenter networks and traffic volume also grows rapidly. In order to fulfil the demand of different kinds of applications, the tradition TCP/IP network becomes more and more complex and ossified. It makes the management of network more difficult and the test for new network protocol and application on realistic network impossible. The architecture of software defined network decouples the control plane from the forwarding plane and makes it simple to manage a network. The logical centralized control shed lights on innovation of traffic engineering and traffic analysis. Therefore, this subject research will investigate the technology for traffic analysis in an OpenFlow-based software-defined network.More specific, taking advantage of the experience in a SDN project, the thesis research and design a traffic analysis system for an SDN network. The main contribution of the thesis is listed as followed:1) Demand analysis of the traffic analysis system is processed to obtain the scope and objective of the system. The driven technology has also been clarified.2) The most important part lies in the research and design of a traffic analysis system. While building up a virtual network using Mininet, a traffic analysis system, which implements lots of technique for network analysis and traffic analysis, is designed as an upper application for an open source controller--Floodlight. 3) According to system demand, a research about how complex network and data mining can help in traffic analysis for SDN is processed. Moreover, some techniques for network analysis in complex network and knowledge discover in data mining are designed and implemented in the system.4) Based on the traffic analysis system, the thesis also proposes and designs-two application scenarios, one for traffic clustering analysis and the other for subnet division of a multiple controller network. It not only processes system use cases, but also verifies the practicality of the analysis system.
