Recent years, with the rapid increase in the number of cars, highway has been more crowded than before, so the number and the frequency of traffic accident are continual growing. However, most of them are caused by fatigue driving. So fatigue driving detection system becomes popular among people. The current detection methods are video detection, pulse detection, brain wave detection and other kinds of sensor detection. After taking full consideration of the system’s practicality and convenience, in the paper we design a vehicle networking based traffic safety and fatigue test system by video detection technique.According to the needs of system design, ZIGBEE,3G, GPS will be introduced firstly, and then the principles of video detection technique will be introduced later. Video equipment gathers AdaBoost classifier with Haar character to detect face, then it adopt gray projection and block complexity analysis method to accurately locate human eyes; besides, according to human eyes black piece area analysis method it can calculate and analysis fatigue status information. At last, using the arithmetic of combining PERCLOS number and frequency of blink to calculate and analysis whether a person is in fatigue status. When it detects that the driver is in fatigue driving condition, the viewing screen will show warnings to alarm the driver to keep focus on driving and take safety measures.This video acquisition system is based on the combination of ARM9, ZigBee and3G wireless technology realizing car environment monitoring and the early warnings of fatigue driving. This system has clearly introduced the design and selection of hardware; we will choose embedded chip S3C2440from Samsung and adopt modularizing design on hardware design.The temperature sensor of ZigBee and carbon dioxide sensor will monitor the inside environment of the car by setting security data, when the security data has been surpassed the system will alarm the driver by vocal music alarm. Module3G could send two kinds of data to long-range transportation service center by3G network; monitoring center could take advantage of GPS positioning technology to alarm the drivers around the car with exhausted driver. GPS could accurately locate the scene of the incident when traffic accident happens. In software aspect, this system adopts partially modular design using Linux operating system to realize other modules.
