With the rapid development of multimedia techniques and telecommunication services, video has been widely favored by people as the most informative and intuitive multimedia applications. Generally, the video will be compressed before transimission due to the huge information. With the update of the high compression efficiency video compress standards, the compressed video data is more sensitive for data loss and even the small amount of data errors may result in the whole video quality. Therefore, error concealment in video communication has become the one of the focus of the multimedia technology. Presently, although some error concealment methods can recover the lost data, most of them don’t fit the real-time and a high recovery quality at the same time.This paper mainly puts forward the error concealment method from the spatial and temporal aspects, based on the H.264/AVC video compression standard, the modified directional interpolation and directional boundary matching. The solution to error concealment is as follows. The lost macroblocks in I frame are recovered by the adaptive between the modified directional interpolation and directional boundary matching, based on the judgement of the edge macroblock with the intra correct data. The lost macroblocks in non-I frame is handled by directional boundary matching with inter correct data. And the designed error tracking chain ensures that data to be used in recovery process is believable. Based on the loss simulation, this project designs the error concealment techniques testing framework which consists of the packet loss, decoder, error detection and error concealment.Results show that the error concealment method can effectively recover the lost data, and it not only ensures the real-time, by the error concealment techniques testing based on the loss simulation, but also improves the quality of the video. The research has high value on the smart TV application, such as conference TV, video sureillence, live etc.
