Millimeter wave antenna is a core part of modern equipment to transmit and receiveinformation such as radar, and thus the millimeter-wave antenna performance is required veryhighly. Antenna test is an important way to analysis and design the antenna, therefore, anaccurate measurement antenna parameter is essential to understand the performance of theantenna.The main task of this paper is to design the automated test system antenna ofmillimeter-wave radar simulator. The system uses Labview to achieve antenna automatic testsystem programming, is based on virtual instrument technology and far-field antennameasurement technology, measures signal through AV4036spectrum analyzer, obtains thedesired results by the radar range equation.The main contents of this paper are as follows. First, to understand the background andthe current situation of the millimeter wave antennas and the antenna testing research, to studythe minimum test distance and the test site of the far-field antenna test system, to derive theradar range equation formula as the theoretical basis of the test antenna parameter. Then, buildthe hardware of the entire system. The hardware includes the computer, AV4036spectrumanalyzer, DPO3032oscilloscope, GM100DU laser rangefinder, LAN bus. Design thesoftware of the test system, the software includes login system, data acquisition, dataprocessing, data storage. The test systems program the login and write data storage withLabview software and access database. The computer controls AV4036Spectrum Analyzer bythe virtual instrument technology to collect amplitude and frequency of the receiving antenna.Finally, integrate each modules of Labview together, optimize the test interface, form acomplete test system is easy to operate by the testing personnel.The system compares the data obtained by the measurement to the data given bystandard parameters. The measured data meet the design requirements of the system. Thesystem is feasible.
