This paper focus on the effects of single-layer, multilayer coating and calendering on coating properties and inkjet printing performances of color inkjet paper. Firstly, two kinds of coating formula was selected.One is white latex and PCC, the other is PVA and SiO2. And by changing the adhesive and pigment ratio, in order to coat single-layer and multilayer. According to the analysis results of whiteness, gloss, smoothness, dynamic penetration, tone, color density and roundness, line width, color bleed, text area, the best coating formulation are obtained. And then, selecting the best of the coating formulation with single-layer as the research object. That is the ratio of SiO2and PVA with30:70. The experiment through changing the temperature(50℃,60℃,70℃,80℃), pressure(30N/m,50N/m,70N/m,90N/m) and speed(7m/min,11m/min,15m/min,19m/min) of calendering, get different color inkjet paper after calendering finishing.According to the analysis results of whiteness, smoothness, dynamic penetration, tone, color density and roundness, line width, color bleed, text area, the optimum parameters are obtained.It turned out that, when the radio of adhesive and pigment (PVA:SiO2) is20:80, whiteness and gloss of the color inkjet paper is the highest. When the bottom coating is white latex and PCC with the ratio of30:70, surface coating is PVA and SiO2with the ratio of30:70, smoothness and dynamic penetration of the color inkjet paper is the highest. When the primer coating is white latex and PCC with the ratio of20:80, surface coating is PVA and SiO2with the ratio of30:70, tone of the color inkjet paper is the best, when the radio of adhesive and pigment (PVA:SiO2) is20:80, color density of the color inkjet paper is the highest.Compared with the single-layer of white latex and PCC with the ratio of20:80, the single-layer of PVA and SiO2with the radio of30:70, and the multilayer coating. Roundness of the multilayer coating is the best. Line width, color bleed and text area of the single-layer of PVA and SiO2with the radio of30:70is the best.The results of calendering conditions show that, with the increasing of temperature, pressure and speed, whiteness is declined; with the increasing of temperature and pressure, smoothness of paper is increased. With the increasing of speed, smoothness is declined; with the increasing of temperature and pressure, tone replication curve slope is declined. At low calendering pressure, with the increasing of speed, curve slope is first increased and then declined; with the increasing of temperature, color density is declined. At high calendering speed, with the increasing of pressure, color density is declined. At low calendering pressure, with the increasing of speed, color density is first increased and then declined. The optimal parameter, whiteness:temperature is70℃, pressure is30N/m, speed is15m/min; smoothness:temperature is70℃, pressure is90N/m, speed is11m/min; tone reproduction:temperature is70℃, pressure is30N/m, speed is llm/min; color density: temperature is60℃, pressure is30N/m, speed is15m/min. Through the comparison of temperature, pressure and speed, at lower temperature, lower pressure, slower speed, roundness, line and text quality is the best. The optimal parameter, temperature is50℃, pressure is30N/m, speed is7m/min.
