Infrared absorption coatings with good infrared absorption performance are widely applied in various industries both at home and abroad. Currently the development of the cold-shield of infrared detector in China has very big disparity comparing with abroad. Especially for the infrared carbon nanotubes coating work in low temperature environment. According to this background, this paper researched infrared absorbing coatings which can performance excellent in low temperature environment.In the experiment, the mixture of CNTS and Ni were used as Infrared absorbing base materials. Then a certain amount of inorganic binder or phosphate sodium silicate was added to make two kinds of infrared absorbing coatings. Also, the paper analyzed the properties of two kinds of coatings and explained how the coatings worked. The main results were showed below:CNTS and Ni were used as Infrared absorbing base materials. And when the content of these two materials were 10 wt% and 90 wt%, the infrared absorption property was the best. When the additive is sodium silicate, CNTs/Ni mixed powder content is 10 wt% and drying temperature is 500℃, the coatings has good infrared absorption property and resistance. When the additive is phosphate binder, CNTs/Ni mixed powder content is 10 wt% and drying temperature is 170℃, the coatings has good infrared absorption property and resistance. Through the contradistinction of the properties of these two coatings, the properties of CNTs/Ni-phosphate are better than CNTs/Ni-sodium silicate.The infrared absorption properties、phases, crystal structure and microstructure of the coating were characterized by means of IR, XRD, SEM and thermal shock resistance of the coatings was tested. The result shows that some products of coating are in a certain crystal structure transformation and others are not involved in the reaction. These guarantee the coating with high infrared absorbance and good thermal shock resistance.
