With the rapid development of the world economy, a lot of requirement of energy makes the oil and gas on land become scarce resource, people pay more attention to the exploitation of offshore oil and gas resources. There are lots of oil and gas resources in deep sea. The deep-sea offshore platforms as a new kind of structures of exploitation of oil and gas resources are huger, more expensive, complex than the general offshore platforms, this makes deep-sea offshore platforms be confronted with extended service status. As the same time, the complexity of deep-sea environment is unpredictable, the safe operation of offshore platforms has been a great challenge. Therefore, it is of great significance to monitor the deep-sea offshore platforms. Based on this, this paper provided a modular approach to design the based on multivariable and self-contained sensor for deep sea can not only simultaneously collect the data of acceleration and inclination of deep-sea offshore platforms, temperature of seawater and humidity of the system, but also effectively extend the working time of the system with both hardware and software design of low power and saving energy.First of all, in the research on the basis of the principle of monitoring offshore platforms, having completed the development of the based on multivariable and self-contained sensor for deep sea, it includes sensing unit, data collecting and storage unit, communication unit and power management unit. The sensing unit with multi-variables, consists of an accelerometer LIS344ALH, an inclinometer SCA103T and a temperature and humidity sensor SHT11; the data collecting and storage unit includes the MSP430low-power MCU, A/D conversion circuit, large capacity memory, clock circuit; the communication unit includes serial port communication unit and USB communication unit; the power management unit includes regulator chips and batteries; then proposed the energy-saving strategies of the self-contained sensor, and achieved by hardware and software; at last, tested and verified the performance of the self-contained sensor through experiments. The studies have shown that the self-contained sensor for deep-sea offshore platform has good application prospects and practical value with small size, low power, being easy to install and high detection accuracy.
