The Semantic Web is an extension of the current Web, and its goal is to make the information on the Web be understood by the machine and be accessed efficiently and accurately. The development of the Semantic Web will help to interact and collaborate be-tween human and computers conveniently, and realize the automated processing of the data. In the Semantic Web, RDF and RDF Schema are generally used to describe the resources and provide metadata for them. Since applications of RDF(S) become more and more widespread, there is an increasing need for the storage of RDF(S).With the development of computer technologies and the growing need for applications, Object-oriented database technology has achieved much attention. Storing RDF(S) documents in Object-oriented databases will not only help to solve the problem of RDF(S) storage, but also can manage and operate the RDF(S) documents by means of the advantages of Object-oriented database. Using Object-oriented databases to store RDF(S) documents, by its very nature is to convert RDF(S) models to Object-oriented data models, and to implement the mapping from RDF(S) models to Object-oriented database models. In this paper, we firstly analyze the characteristics of the RDF(S) model and the Object-oriented database model, give the formal definitions of them respectively, and discuss the correspondences between them. Then, we propose an approach for mapping the RDF(S) model to the Object-oriented database model. These mapping rules maintain the semantic information of the RDF(S) model as far as possible, and describe the hierarchy of the RDF(S) model. Finally, based on the proposed mapping rules, we design and implement a mapping tool from the RDF(S) model to the Object-oriented database model. Experiments show that the proposed mapping approach is feasible.
