With increasing demands for a new generation of radar, the rapid development ofphased array technology is promoted. Phased array technology has been increasinglywidely used, it is not only used in phased array radar, but also in fields like phased arrayultrasonic nondestructive testing, ultrasonic phased underwater detection, satellitecommunications and60GHz technology. Large volume, low level of integration andhigh cost are the three features of the traditional Phased Array Antenna System, so ittends to be low precision adjustment and big phase deviation due to the realization ofphase delay by application analog delay line.The phased circuit is designed and simulated based on FPGA, aiming to controland form phased array radar beam. It can control the state of phased array antenna whenworking by changing the direction of array antenna. But changing the phase ofmicrowave from radio unit is a premise.Taking miniaturization and cost of phase control circuit into consideration, thisdesign tends to choose FPGA to design the whole part with Verilog language because ofits advantages such as miniaturization, modularity, flexibility. What is more, it will beeasier to modify and update with FPGA for rewritable.Analysing the principle of phased array technology, phased array antenna beamcontrol, phased array antenna beam agility capabilities,phased realization of advancedtechnology and other aspects of the theory.The phased delay algorithm of the phasedarray antenna is discussed. The core of module is designed with IP core in DSP andMath Functions series. Protection mechanisms have been brought in after the spreadfrom phase-in serial fashion to digital phase shifter to prevent the damage of RFdevices in control module which can control units by part.Each module is programmed and simulated with ISE. Clock module,communication module, data processing module, output module and control moduleconsist of the whole system.Using FPGA chip to control phase circuit for the design can reduce the volumeof equipment to achieve the miniaturization phased circuit target. Using FPGA chipalso brings a good system compatibility and flexibility, the system can be easilyfine-tuned according to the specific circumstances and the special requirements of thedesign. With the development of technology, the price of FPGA chips and other chips will decrease continuously, it will be a good news to the cost of phased circuit.Each module is simulated before the whole system with the help of excitationsignal written by test bench. The simulation results confirmed phased functions can runas expected with Verilog language. This designed achieves the desired resultsultimately. With the development of technology and high demand in phased technologyused both in military and civilian, improving the function and performance of the phasecontrol circuit is necessary.
