With years of rapid development, the third generation of cellphone network has gained widely popularity in China. Increasing number of3G mobile users brought an issue in front of all the users, which is how fast on earth could their connection speed be. In order for users to know more about the performance of their broadband access network, there are various kinds of network performance testing application, mainly categorizing in two main methods, which are PC based and mobile terminal. However, there is no one network performance test application can be compatible with various platforms. For that reason, this research focuses on the objective of applied on cross platform, based on the HTML5technology, to realize one WEB APP which can be accessed on cross platform to test broadband accessing performance.There is a big problem for the users whose mobile phone’s system is Android, which is that when there is an encrypted and strong signal AP nearby, their mobile phone network will automatically switch to the WiFi from the3G. For most of the time, though this kind of AP can be connected, but cannot be accessed to the Internet. This whole uncontrollable process could cause a serious result, which is making user using3G network who can access to the internet switch to WiFi networks which cannot be accessed to the internet. In order to solve this kind of problem, in this research, there is a solution being proposed, which is an algorithm allowing3G network switch to accessible WiFi networks; based on this algorithm the solution will be applied on the Android platform.The PhoneGap framework is chosen from plenty of Web APP localization frameworks to finish the transplantation of WEB APP for broadband access network performance test from the PC to Android platform, and eventually to integrate3G/WiFi automatic switching function module. Finally, a WEB APP can be realized, which has the combination of broadband network performance testing and WiFi automatic switching function on Android platform mobile.At first, this paper introduces the research background, research status of the relevant technology in China and worldwide, and the main innovations and the significance of dissertation. In the next section, HTML5technology and PhoneGap framework using in the whole system development process will be introduced, as well as the relevant3G/WiFi automatic switching algorithms. There will be a detailed construction of the overall design of the system architecture, client UI and interaction design, the build and deployment plans of local server and remote service, and at last, the client database design. In this section, the realizations of each core function modules of the system will be introduced in detail, mainly focusing on data acquisition, processing, and data encryption schemes of the available AP. In the end of the dissertation, after analyzing the statistics of the test results of the system application, a conclusion of the research will be proposed, along with the directions for future research topics and improvement.
