Nowadays, the enterprise information construction is in full swing, a great amount of IT resources are invested by companies. In order to make these devices to achieve their maximum value, they must have a comprehensive and efficient asset monitoring system to manage the resources. Meanwhile due to the rapid development of the telecommunications, there a high chance that the IT assets owed by one enterprise are not distributed in only one single location. When something happens to one of the IT resources, usually this situation is discovered by the client and they notice the maintainers, then the maintainers rush to the spot to fix the problem. This method is quite time-consuming and inefficient. The maintainers are running around all the time. Also it cost a lot. So it is essential for the companies to use an appropriate solution to manage and monitor their IT asset efficiently.Firstly, this paper introduced ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), a set of practices for IT service management (ITSM) that focuses on aligning IT services with the needs of business. Combing the shortcomings of the current solution for the monitoring system, we bring the major function our system will accomplish. Then we discuss the design of the system design technology, such as system architecture, database technology. Finally, we introduce the overall designation of the system’s platform architecture and implementation of some typical functions in our system.Eventually we decided the system should be constructed based on the SSH framework as its software architecture, with Struts as Web tier processing the dataflow from the front to the end, Spring managing the service logic and Hibernate dealing with the database. After comparing to the CS model structure, we determined that we should use Web-tier B/S model structure (i.e., browser, Web server, database Server tier). After analyzing the functional requirements of the system, we put forward the various functional modules this system must accomplished, such as the designation of the resource management, performance management, alarm module and etc.; and put forward concrete realization of each module and its interface designation features. Finally, we describe the logic thinking process of some modules of the system as examples to show you how we realize all these functions, which includes management of the virtual IT assets, the history performance of a device and the alarm forwarding module.
