Research And Application Of Network Monitoring Technology Based On ITIL

With the development of enterprises'informatization, enterprises'daily processes and business are closely connected with IT systems. Enterprises would suffered great lose if the system down. Now enterprises have used network monitoring system to manage the system, but they do not get the best benefit from using it.Network monitor is a system project.But the research on it is just focus on one module, topology discovery or fault management, not research it with a system view.Therefore,we do not get the best use of network monitoring system.This paper based on a practical project. We do research on netwok monitoring technology based on ITIL. At last, we design and implement an network monitoring system based on ITIL.The main contributions are as follows:(1)The paper analyses requirement of the network monitoring system and the disadvantage of traditional network monitoring system.Then, a network monitoring system based on ITIL is designed. This system feeds the basic need of an network monitoring system, besides, it has other functions include Service Desk, Configuration Management, Incident Management,Problem Management.Then it improves service management,and also improves IT system which is monitored reliability and stability.(2)The paper analyses fault management's present situation and trend,then we desigen reasonable fault management processes and use several algorithms.At last,we realize effective fault management,include event redundancy suppressing algorithm and event correlation algorithm based on network topology.Besides,we use different fault recovery strategy based on fault's level. At last, we realize effective fault management.(3)The paper analyses network topology discovery technology, and this system has network layer topology discovery and link layer topology discovery function.We use topology discovery algorithm based on SNMP and primitive protocols in network layer topology discovery.In link layer topology discovery, we use algorithms based on STP and FDB. This topology module can discovery more devices and runs more effective.(4)Based on this paper's research, we design a network monitoring system.Use it in ecust's IT system,we get the satisfied result.
