Research And Implementation Of Interface For Multi-Protocl Network Controller

SDN network Represented by OpenFlow is a centralized network. In OpenFlow network, network intelligence is centralized to a network controller, network controller maintains the entire view of OpenFlow network, OpenFlow switch can only forward packets based on the flow table configured by network controller. Network controller provides a set of API for the network application developer, network application use these API to configure the switch processing network packets through OpenFlow protocol.This thesis presents an OpenFlow based network infrastructure. The infrastructure use OpenFlow network’s programmability to achieve network virtualization and multi-protocol forwarding feature. Through network virtualization, users can access network resources on demand, saving the user’s costs in network maintenance. Multi-protocol forwarding feature enables network applications, whitch using different network protocols, deployed in a single physical network. This feature achieves the integration of networks applications, reduceing network costs and increaseing business profits. Based on the existing programming interface, the network infrastructure provides a set of programming interface for particular network applications. By using these programming interfaces, network services can be quickly developed and deployed.This thesis introduces SDN network, describes the research status of network virtualization and the "triple play". The thesis then describes overall design of the network infrastructure. Then, this thesis elaborates the implementation of interfaces for multi-protocol network controller in this network infrastructure. Finally, the thesis designed a series of scenarios, which is used for system prototype testing, proofing the effectiveness of network virtualization and multi-protocol forwarding function.
