With the rapid development of computer technology and network technology, the informatization of enterprises constantly improves by building various application systems. But these systems run independently, resulting in the problem of’isolated information islands’, since various information resources are difficult to be effectively integrated and comprehensively used.Enterprise Information Portal (EIP) emerges as the times require. EIP is an application system. It enables enterprises to release all kinds of information stored internal and external, so the users can access personalized information from a single channel to make sensible business decisions. This paper introduces the origin, definition, brief development history and main functions of EIP, studies the related key technologies of EIP, including Single Sign-On (SSO) and unified authentication, Content Management System (CMS), Enterprise Application Integration (EAI), etc. and related software development framework and technologies such as SOA and Web Services.Using the above technologies, and according to theories of software engineering, this paper introduces the requirement analysis, system design, prototype design, detailed design of each functional module, and database design of an Enterprise Information Portal for a power design company. And at last introduces deployment and testing of the EIP.In this paper, the author comprehensively uses technologies and methods such as use-case analysis, framework design, prototype design, and domain model analysis, to design and implement an EIP system suitable for the company in its current situation. The EIP system is of B/S architecture, built on J2EE platform. The whole system is mainly consist of8functional modules including SSO and unified authentication, Unified User Management System (UUMS), To-Do work integration, daily schedule, public information, technical exchange, resource share and application system integration. The SSO and unified authentication module is built with the open source project CAS.At last, concludes the related work of this paper, and points out the direction of next work.
