Since human being entered the information age, the people’s daily lives and theinformation will be closely related. People’s act is collected and processed as a kind ofinformation. In the21st century, people get a higher range of information requirements, gradually deepening from the human world to the physical world. As a new technical meansto Wireless sensor networks solve people’s demand for access to information from physicalworld, so research of wireless sensor network technology has gradually expanded, gettingmore and more attention, a lot of breakthroughs and being widely used in many fields. Duringthe study in wireless sensor networks, the problem of energy consumption has been abottleneck restricting its development, so the hot point of research of wireless sensor networksis how to save energy, extending the life cycle of the entire network.Firstly, the paper outlines the development of wireless sensor networks profiles anddetails current research in wireless sensor networks, including the main method of energyefficiency research of characteristics of wireless sensor networks, the architecture.Secondly, this paper focuses and details description of the relevant theories and conceptsrelated to information theory, giving basic concepts on information entropy, conditionalentropy, joint entropy and mutual information, describing the specific meaning of theseconcepts. Some abstract concepts are given popular description for these basic concepts arebasic research information theory. Therefore, further descriptions on basic properties aredetailed both quantitatively and qualitatively. With the theoretical basis of information entropy, the paper outlines the main information entropy valuation methods, and describes specificscenarios applying these methods in detail, so that it can be used in the specific experimentaloccasions according to the actual needs. After the theoretical basis of these experiments arecarried out, followed by the information entropy model is established on the basis of thesetheories, is to carry out the experiment must be part of the premise.Again, the analysis of the energy consumption of wireless sensor networks model aremade by monitoring the regional deployment of sensor nodes to collect relevant experimentaldata and choosing an appropriate model to estimate the probability density distribution. Afterobtaining the probability distribution of the experimental data, further information entropyvaluation model is established in accordance with the probability distribution of theexperimental data, and ultimately get the information entropy of the experimental data. Withthe theory of information entropy, information entropy values obtained for the use of the sampling frequency of wireless sensor nodes to re-adjust.Finally, methods proposed in this paper on energy efficiency of wireless sensor networksand traditional ones are compared and analyzed, thus visually evaluate the excellentperformance of the different methods. After the analysis and comparison, the relevant work ofthis paper is summarized, and also some new ideas are put forward as an extension andexpansion of this article.
